Every student is different — in age, goals, experience, and taste. That's why I tailer my lessons to meet my students exactly where they are.
I grew up with two classical pianist parents and started formal piano lessons at age five. I began studying the clarinet around age ten and played for about six years. At age twelve, I pulled my mom's old guitar out of the closet, and I was immediatedly hooked. That moment led me down a path that shaped the rest of my life.
I first began teaching private music lessons at age seventeen and even earned high school credit for it my senior year. I went on to study music at the University of New Mexico before transferring to the Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT), Musicians Institute, in Hollywood, California. I also studied multiple summers at the National Guitar Workshop in Claremont, CA.
"Music is a skill anyone can enjoy throughout their lifetime — whether they're 5 or 95."
I love teaching music, watching students grow as musicians, and seeing the joy on their faces when they achieve something new. My aim as a teacher is to provide a solid music education in a fun and supportive environment while focusing on the style of music each student wants to learn.
I've taught students from ages five through adult in a variety of styles, including rock, classical, fingerstyle guitar, funk, improvisation, blues, and hard rock. Lessons generally follow this structure:
After each lesson I send students home with notes on what to practice that week. Songs are selected based on the student's primary style, goals, and ability level — and students are always working on at least one song they've requested or that aligns with their genre and skill level.
Through tailored lessons that are fun and engaging for all ages, students not only become better musicians, but also gain valuable life skills such as improved self-confidence and the ability to overcome challenges. It is a privilege to help guide others to express themselves creatively through music.
Through intensive study at GIT, the National Guitar Workshop, and private instruction, I've had the privilege of learning from some of the world's most respected musicians:
The first lesson is always free — no commitment, no payment required.
